Fresnel lenses to power steam engine

Postby Greg White » Tue Jan 12, 2010 3:18 pm

Has anyone had any luck using fresnel lenses to run steam engines and produced enough power, to either sell or completly run their house without buying electricty. I am in the process of buying both, 10 hp steam engine and several fresnel lenses. Was just wondering if anyone else has done so in the past with any sucess/sugestions?

Wouldnt fresnel lenses be more powerful than reflective mirrows?

Hello everyone,

On the following video, Dan talks about a 'copper looping system', the unit on which the Fresnel lens is focused.
I need such a device for my own project but I don't know where to look for it. I tried to pause the video at the right moment so I can read what's written on the green label but the still is too blurry.
Does anyone know where I can find the same or similar apparatus?

Hi Stef,

That is a Harddrive cooling system. The pump and all can be found on ebay. Hard drive cooling.
Thank you for the nice comments and the spam heads up.
